Finding a Safe Home for Feral Cats

If you have feral cats for whom you would like to find a safe home, follow these steps:

  • Contact us to ensure availability: Email us at contactus@northtexasbarncats.com to confirm we have a suitable location. There may be a waiting list.
  • Plan ahead for spay/neuter: Ensure the cats are spayed/neutered. Call ahead to confirm that the vet or organization can handle feral animals.
  • Trap the cats: Use a humane trap (e.g., Havahart-style cage traps) when both the vet and NTX-BCs are ready. Cover the trap with a towel to calm the animal.
  • Hold the trapped animal safely: Keep the cat in a comfortable, shaded, ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight, extreme heat, or cold.
  • Medical care: Take the cats to a vet for spay/neuter and vaccines.
  • Arrange transport: Contact us to schedule a drop-off. We will acclimate the cats and place them in their new homes.
